Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Seek ideas for own creative work
   • Identify and collect information about ideas for creative work from a range of sources
   • Organise collected information in a way that helps develop ideas
   • Review information and draw out ideas for creative work, with help from key people
   • Choose ideas to progress, based on information review and with help from key people if required
2. Prepare for creative work
   • Identify tools, equipment and materials needed to develop creative ideas
   • Prepare tools, equipment and materials safely and sustainably under supervision from others and according to relevant procedures
   • Check work space for cleanliness and safety in preparation for creative work
3. Develop creative work
   • Identify and follow steps required to develop creative work
   • Use basic creative techniques and tools, equipment and materials relevant to the creative form being developed safely and sustainably
   • Seek feedback and help from key people
   • Apply feedback to creative process

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

find ideas to inform own creative oral, aural, visual or performance work through a process of collecting, organising and reviewing information

develop creative work, using basic techniques and tools, equipment and materials safely and sustainably

seek feedback and help from key people during creative process.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify different types of information sources that provide ideas for creative work

describe basic creative techniques relevant to the creative work being developed

describe practical safety issues relevant to work in chosen form and creative context, and appropriate responses to mitigate them

describe procedures for recycling and disposing of material used in the creative process.
