Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

perform solo before an audience in at least one musical theatre production

integrate singing, dancing, acting, voice and movement skills in the role performed

follow safe movement and vocal practices during rehearsals and performances

demonstrate progression of performance skills over the rehearsal period

improve own performance in response to constructive feedback

contribute to evaluations of performances

respond appropriately to performance context and contingencies that arise

work collaboratively with production team members and other performers.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements the individual must:

explain principles underlying dance movements and techniques in a musical theatre performance context

explain principles underlying vocal techniques in a musical theatre performance context

demonstrate techniques for integrating dance, movement, acting and singing in performances

explain stage layout and directions

demonstrate an understanding of musical elements

explain the following health and safety issues:

hearing protection

protection of body against injury from overuse

healthy diet and nutrition

safe lifting procedures

strategies to overcome performance anxiety

discuss issues and challenges that arise when rehearsing and performing

follow performance and rehearsal protocols

explain the relationship between rehearsals and performances.
