Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

use correct and safe techniques to make simple alterations to staging elements

work collaboratively in a performance production team

solve production operation problems in line with scope of responsibilities

provide efficient and safe assistance with production operations in line with scope of responsibilities

contribute to analysis of productions and identify ways of improving production operations.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements the individual must:

demonstrate well-developed knowledge of:

bump-in and bump-out procedures

stage and production terminology

staging elements

describe issues and challenges that can arise when assisting with production operations and suggest solutions to address them

describe how the following WHS issues relate to staging live productions:

safe manual handing

working with electrical equipment

emergency procedures

in the context of assisting with production operations, demonstrate knowledge of:

basic maintenance procedures for audio equipment

basic set assembly

common stage machinery

methods of tying cloths, tabs and drapes

signals and other communication devices used when operating stage machinery

adhesives and paints commonly used to construct and repair props

safety and environmental issues associated with prop construction

general features of differing light sources

relationship between lighting and other production operations

special requirements for automated light systems.
