Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to install specialist staging equipment
- Clarify requirements for specialist staging equipment in consultation with relevant personnel and with reference to production documentation
- Inspect fly tower and stage at venues to identify modifications that may need to be made to existing grid or infrastructure
- Organise modifications in line with own level of responsibility and refer matters that need attention to relevant personnel
- Plan installation work, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and licensing requirements
- Anticipate problems that may arise during installation, rehearsal and operational phases and plan accordingly
- Obtain approval for a weight loads plan and safe work methods statement
- Complete specialist staging installation
- Load counter-weight cradles to fly scenery and other items in line with production requirements
- Rig bridles, spreaders or other rigging equipment to create rigging points not covered by existing grids
- Install and synchronise chain motors and winches as required
- Install brailing lines to manage scenery and other items in grids
- Safely install specialist staging elements in a sequence that maximises efficiency of operations and meets production deadlines
- Progressively test equipment installed for functionality and adjust installation as required
- Complete post-show operations
- Uninstall specialist staging equipment safely and in a sequence that maximises efficiency of operations
- Organise maintenance of equipment as required before storing or transporting
- Provide input into post-show debriefing sessions and note aspects of staging operations that could be improved in future productions
- Review own work performance and adjust work practices accordingly
