Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

applying problem-solving techniques

applying safety, legislative and statutory requirements relevant to the risk assessment

communicating effectively with others

complying with aircraft role and capability limitations

complying with cargo regulations for air movements

identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing control measures

identifying, interpreting and analysing risk assessment requirements relevant to aircraft work being performed

monitoring and anticipating operational problems and hazards.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

aircraft weight and balance principles

features and differences of loading systems used in various aircraft types

fixed wing aircraft freight loading and lashing principles

potential problems that may occur when loading and securing aviation freight, and appropriate action that should be taken in each case

principles for the safe and effective handling, loading and securing of freight into a fixed wing aircraft

problem-solving techniques

risks that exist when loading and securing aviation freight.
