Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for operation
   • Purpose and requirement of the surveillance activity is received from written or verbal instructions issued by supervisor.
   • Specifications of the tasks are confirmed and where necessary clarified with supervisor.
   • Surveillance equipment required for the task is identified and selected.
   • Surveillance equipment is checked for serviceability in accordance with standard procedures.
2. Prepare and maintain a location
   • Designated position is occupied, reference points are established and information is documented.
   • Surveillance equipment is deployed in accordance with supervisor’s directions and standard procedures.
   • Optimal configuration is confirmed with supervisor.
   • Equipment is tested to ensure functionality and is confirmed with the control facility.
   • Site is camouflaged.
   • Communications are maintained with stakeholders.
   • Operational maintenance is conducted as required.
