Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Safely handle a service hand grenade
   • Work health and safety (WHS) requirements and recognised safety precautions are applied throughout the operation.
   • Service hand grenade is identified and selected in accordance with supervisor’s instructions and operational requirements.
   • Service hand grenade is safely handled and carried.
   • Service hand grenade is secured.
2. Safely maintain a service hand grenade
   • Service hand grenade and associated equipment are cleaned and serviced as required.
   • Defects are identified and rectified within limits of authority or reported to supervisor.
   • Documentation is completed.
3. Safely operate a service hand grenade
   • Grenade drills are conducted.
   • Throwing position is adopted as required.
   • Throwing principles are applied.
   • Grenade equipment is employed as required.
   • Service hand grenade is safely thrown.
   • Range Safety Brief and Practice Brief are complied with when throwing a service hand grenade on a range.
