Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Prepare for marshalling
  2. Determine aircraft parking position
  3. Marshal aircraft during start/shut down
  4. Marshal aircraft during taxiing

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

allocating and prioritising aircraft parking

identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing control measures

implementing aircraft security, access and ordnance procedures

implementing the correct procedures in an aircraft emergency or accident

marshalling aircraft by day and by night

participating in aircraft safety briefings or debriefings

using marshalling signals

working in a team.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

aircraft danger zones

day and night marshalling signals

effects of wind on aircraft

emergency drills including:

basic firefighting drill

basic first aid drill

crowd control

environmental and safety factors

how and when to notify emergency service/s

marshalling, support and aircraft equipment selection and serviceability

operational procedures for an aircraft fire/accident and emergency

relevant manufacturer procedures

relevant organisational policies and procedures

relevant standard Australian Defence Force (ADF) marshalling signals

restrictions imposed on aircraft in confined areas

security, access and ordnance requirements

special circumstances/procedures including:

aircraft with droop stops

aircraft with no prop/rotor brake

installation of locking, protection or security devices

tasking information and procedures.
