Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for firing
- Requirements for firing of explosive ordnance are identified and clarified
- Work health and safety (WHS) requirements including those specific to the nature of the ordnance are identified and applied throughout the operation
- Firing methods are confirmed in accordance with policy and procedures
- Liaison with and notification of parties affected by the firing is undertaken in accordance with Range Standing Orders and local requirements
- Site/equipment preparation is completed in accordance with organisation policy and procedures, and Range Standing Orders
- Net explosive quantities are identified, calculated and monitored throughout the operation
- Compatibility is identified, analysed and applied throughout the operation
- Test equipment is set up in accordance with instructions
- Fire explosive ordnance
- Explosive ordnance and firing mechanisms are prepared and tested in accordance with Range Standing Orders and organisation policy
- Explosive ordnance is fired in accordance with Range Standing Orders and organisation policy
- Residue is inspected to ensure all explosives have been fired in accordance with Range Standing Orders
- Measurements are taken and recorded in accordance with instructions
- Finalise the firing process
- Recorded measurements are assessed against standards and results are documented in accordance with organisation policy and procedures
- Site/equipment is maintained and/or refurbished in accordance with policy and procedures, and Range Standing Orders
- Documentation and records are maintained in accordance with policy and Range Standing Orders
