Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Access and apply safety procedures
   • Access and apply safety procedures and instructions.
   • Identify, act upon and/or report breaches in site safety.
   • Select load handling and shifting method in accordance with identified requirements for particular goods.
   • Check handling equipment for conformity with workplace requirements and manufacturer’s guidelines.
   • Check suitable signage for compliance with workplace procedures.
2. Apply personal safety measures
   • Select, fit and don personal protective equipment.
   • Establish and maintain safety of immediate working area and equipment.
   • Obtain relevant authorisation before specialised and hazardous work is carried out.
   • Identify and report incidents and injuries.
3. Apply dangerous goods and hazardous substances requirements
   • Recognise individual responsibilities regarding dangerous goods and hazardous substances.
   • Identify and recognise dangerous goods and hazardous substances’ labels and characteristics.
   • Report to supervisor where dangerous goods or hazardous materials do not appear to be appropriately marked.
   • Store dangerous goods and hazardous substances in accordance with the relevant compatibility, separation constraints and security requirements.
   • Handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances.

Performance Evidence
