Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for certification
   • Identify requirement for certification.
   • Identify and prepare suitable location to carry out operation.
   • Identify, acquire and prepare equipment required for the certification process.
2. Certify as free from explosives
   • Conduct examinations.
   • Label items confirmed as being FFE.
   • Apply emergency and contingency procedures.
3. Carry out post certification procedures
   • Prepare packaging, arisings and salvage as being FFE.
   • Maintain documentation and records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

applying operational safety

identifying ammunition and explosive components

identifying explosive contaminants

identifying relevant labels and markings

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.

Operational knowledge of:

documentation requirements

equipment used in FFE process

explosive contaminants

explosive packaging components and fitments

operational safety

relevant labels and markings

types of ammunition, explosive component parts
