Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for packaging
   • Identify packaging requirements from work requests and instructions.
   • Identify, acquire and prepare technical references, tools, equipment, consumables and packaging components.
   • Identify, calculate, analyse and apply net explosive quantities and compatibility.
   • Monitor and maintain environmental conditions.
2. Pack explosives
   • Identify explosives or explosive components and prepare them for packaging.
   • Package explosives or explosive components in accordance with technical instructions, technical drawings and organisational procedures.
   • Interpret emergency procedures and apply contingency plans.
   • Prepare and mark packaging.
3. Finalise packaging procedures
   • Inspect equipment/tools for serviceability.
   • Maintain documentation and records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

applying colour coding, markings, stencilling and labels applying compatibility/environmental constraints applying moisture absorption/sealing procedures applying operational safety calculating weight, volume and dimensions identifying explosives and packaging materials using relevant tools and equipment

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and includes:
