Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for breakdown of explosive ordnance
   • Identify requirement for explosive ordnance breakdown from work requests/instructions.
   • Identify, acquire and prepare technical references, tools and equipment required for the breakdown.
   • Acquire, prepare, move and position explosive ordnance to be broken down in preparation for the task.
   • Identify, calculate, assess and apply net explosive quantities and compatibility throughout the operation.
   • Monitor and maintain environmental conditions.
2. Breakdown explosive ordnance
   • Breakdown explosive ordnance into its individual components.
   • Process components in accordance with the requirements specified in the work request.
   • Interpret emergency procedures and apply contingency plans.
3. Finalise the breakdown operation
   • Ensure serviceability of equipment/tools.
   • Maintain documentation and records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

applying environmental constraints applying manual handling and team lifting techniques conducting housekeeping handling dangerous good and hazardous substances safely using PPE using tools and equipment working safely within an explosive ordnance environment

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and includes:
