Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare explosive ordnance for loading/unloading
   • Identify explosive ordnance and determine appropriate handling, loading/unloading and storage requirements.
   • Identify special to purpose handling/transport equipment and safety/emergency procedures associated with the task.
   • Identify additional fittings and aids for loading/unloading and ascertain their availability and serviceability.
   • Prepare explosive ordnance for loading/unloading.
   • Prepare and position lifting/transfer equipment appropriate for the loading/unloading task.
2. Load/unload platform
   • Lift/move/relocate explosive ordnance.
   • Position and utilise additional fittings and/or loading aids.
   • Fit or remove explosive ordnance from the platform.
   • Interpret emergency procedures and apply contingency plans.
   • Complete associated documentation and forward to relevant personnel.
3. Load/unload platform
   • Lift/move/relocate explosive ordnance.
   • Position and utilise additional fittings and/or loading aids.
   • Fit or remove explosive ordnance from the platform.
   • Interpret emergency procedures and apply contingency plans.
   • Complete associated documentation and forward to relevant personnel.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

ensuring the appropriate preparatory, execution, securing and documentation actions are taken identifying serviceability of safety systems inspecting explosive ordnance to confirm serviceability and configuration loading/unloading items of explosive ordnance to/from a platform preparing and inspecting items of explosive ordnance for loading/unloading securing and documenting the loading/unloading of items of explosive ordnance to/from a platform using and applying safety mechanisms including locking mechanisms and dead man brakes using special to purpose loading/unloading and handling equipment associated with the explosive ordnance

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and includes:

operational knowledge of: procedures for loading/unloading a specific item of explosive ordnance to/from a platform relevant characteristics and requirements of the explosive ordnance to be loaded/unloaded use and application of any special to purpose loading/unloading equipment to be used use and capacity of lifting/transfer equipment WHS requirements for the operation including emergency procedures to be implemented
