Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for proof, trial and experimental firing
   • Read and clarify proof, trial and experimental instructions.
   • Identify and apply relevant range regulations.
   • Identify and resource required stores and equipment and check for calibration, serviceability and safety.
   • Liaise with relevant parties.
   • Obtain agreement on firing point preparation in consultation with stakeholders.
2. Establish firing point
   • Install equipment in accordance with the proof, trial and experimental instruction.
   • Monitor installation of data acquisition equipment.
   • Check safety traces against the set-up.
   • Check functionality of equipment and record identification data, condition and calibration.
3. Monitor firing point equipment
   • Monitor performance of equipment.
   • Document performance of equipment.
4. Recondition firing point
   • Undertake safety checks.
   • Confirm and record equipment calibration.
   • Record and report equipment condition.
   • Recondition firing point.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

analysing and evaluating information handling dangerous goods and hazardous substances preparing and installing the equipment necessary to prepare proof, trial and experimental firing points preparing and presenting simple reports using manual handling and team lifting techniques using PPE

effect of small arms, other calibre and explosive fire/detonation explosive ordnance or weapon systems undergoing testing licensing requirements organisational guidelines and standards proof, trial and experimental tests involving explosive ordnance and weapon systems regulatory requirements
