Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Prepare for explosive ordnance trial
  2. Prepare information support systems for explosive ordnance trial including achievable reporting and recording processes, in accordance with resource requirements
  3. Negotiate and resolve coordination issues with others affected by explosive ordnance trial
  4. Identify and observe health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) principles and requirements throughout the trial process work
  5. Conduct explosive ordnance trial
  6. Implement, monitor and amend explosive ordnance trial plan based on changing circumstances, in accordance with methodologies and organisational procedures
  7. Allocate resources to trial tasks in accordance with plan and available resources
  8. Record data being generated by trial in accordance with agreed methodology and organisational procedures
  9. Report on explosive ordnance trial results
  10. Provide options and recommendations resulting from explosive ordnance trial in a clear and comprehensive format
  11. Produce and maintain post-trial reports, statistical reports and other records in accordance with requirements and organisational procedures

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

applying organisational safety policies and structures, including work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements

applying relevant organisational policies and procedures

applying safety, legislative and statutory requirements relevant to the risk assessment

communicating clearly and effectively

coordinating relevant activities

documenting and reporting trial results

evaluating information

identifying and allocating resources

identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing control measures

identifying issues, interpreting and analysing risk assessment requirements relevant to explosive ordnance trial work being performed

implementing trial methodologies and procedures

recording trial data


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

evaluation processes

explosive ordnance trials including:

environmental testing

organisational trials

proof testing

research group or divisional trials

specific field testing which is not a normal component of laboratory testing

information support systems

organisational safety policies and structures

organisational WHS/OHS requirements

relevant organisational methodologies, policies and procedures

resource requirements and allocation guidelines

risk assessment

trialling methodologies
