Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Inspect electronic forensic equipment
   • Conduct visual, auditory or tactile inspection to identify possible operational failure of electronic equipment or physical failure of equipment.
   • Identify and report missing parts.
   • Record and report damaged equipment.
2. Test electronic forensic equipment
   • Test equipment to ensure it is fit for purpose.
   • Record test results.
   • Report and record defective equipment.
3. Clean, maintain and store electronic forensic equipment
   • Clean, maintain and assemble equipment.
   • Update equipment records.
   • Recover and store equipment for future use.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

inspecting and testing equipment such as computer, recording, communications and organisational specialist equipment

maintaining equipment, including power checks, software checks and cleaning

storing equipment

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.

organisation’s policies and procedures concerning the use, testing, cleaning and servicing of equipment

recording procedures including:
