Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Identify and analyse issue/s
   • Observe, receive and clarify circumstances that require provision of advice relating to the technical regulatory framework
   • Identify and confirm issues, as required, through consultation with relevant personnel
   • Analyse circumstances, and interpret and clearly define issue/s in accordance with task requirements
   • Conduct research related to issue/s and seek advice of relevant personnel to clarify unclear findings
   • Document research outcomes and feedback received from relevant personnel, in accordance with operational procedures
2. Formulate options for technical regulatory framework advice
   • Identify and evaluate appropriate options related to the provision of advice
   • Prioritise identified options and make recommendations in accordance with task requirements and regulatory framework
3. Provide specialist technical regulatory framework advice
   • Finalise draft advice and discuss with relevant stakeholders in accordance with organisational policies
   • Negotiate, document and incorporate stakeholder requirements within proposed advice
   • Report finalised advice in accordance with ethical and practical guidelines and within specified resource constraints

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include: analysing and evaluating information applying relevant legislation, regulations, statutory requirements and organisational policies and procedures communicating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders conducting research into identified issues and identifying relevant information formulating and prioritising options for technical regulatory framework advice, and selecting the most appropriate option identifying and analysing issue/s surrounding the provision of advice identifying, interpreting and analysing risk assessment requirements relevant to work being performed preparing and presenting advice reports providing specialist technical regulatory framework advice.

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of: analysis process configuration management ethical and practical guidelines integrated logistic support relevant organisational policies, procedures, guidelines and industry standards product knowledge related to systems and/or equipment in service in the organisation professional codes of practice relevant research techniques and information sources specialist technical regulatory framework advice and protocols.
