Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for intelligence operations
   • Confirm and maintain competence of subordinates to undertake intelligence operations in accordance with operational procedures
   • Maintain relevant personnel administration
   • Clarify orders to determine commander’s intent
   • Determine and manage constraints relevant to task in accordance with operational procedures
   • Assemble resources for task and report shortfalls that limit capability to chain of command
   • Make planning decisions to solve operational problems, based on a logical process
   • Conduct battle procedure to meet task requirements
   • Identify hazards, assess risks and implement control measures in accordance with operational procedures
2. Conduct intelligence operations
   • Prepare and deliver orders and briefs, as required
   • Direct and supervise subordinates in accordance with operational procedures
   • Liaise with stakeholders in accordance with operational requirements
   • Conduct, organise and direct support from outside agencies
   • Provide intelligence operations technical advice to supervisors and subordinates
3. Finalise intelligence operations
   • Conduct debriefs in accordance with operational procedures
   • Conduct post activity analysis and make subsequent recommendations
   • Manage equipment, stores and explosive ordnance as required, in accordance with operational procedures
   • Complete documentation in accordance with operational procedures
   • Monitor and manage subordinate health and wellbeing, and address any identified issues as required

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least two separate occasions and include: accessing and using resources applying logical process when planning and problemsolving conducting briefings and debriefings counselling subordinates and evaluating performance developing instructions from given orders disseminating information and providing technical advice planning and coordinating protective security operations preparing and writing reports presenting logical and structured arguments processing and maintaining workplace information reading, interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures using a variety of verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, including: giving and receiving workplace feedback working as part of a team working with minimal supervision.

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of: collection planning evaluation criteria intelligence operations logical processes including: intelligence preparation of the battlefield military appreciation process war gaming relevant battle procedures and constraints relevant legal responsibilities must include one or more of the following: Geneva conventions and protocols international laws laws of armed conflict rules of engagement state/territory legislation relevant legislation and procedures in relation to environmental requirements and rules of engagement relevant organisational policies and procedures including: work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation equipment material and personal safety requirements risk assessments troop and personnel movement requirements workplace communication strategies.
