Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Uphold the values and ethos of the Australian Army
   • Reflect Australian army values in all actions and behaviours.
   • Assimilate ethos of the Australian Army.
2. Exhibit the qualities of an Australian soldier
   • Demonstrate self-discipline.
   • Maintain standards of dress and bearing.
   • Maintain a positive attitude to military service.
   • Comply with organisational policies and guidelines in personal work practices and relationships with colleagues.
   • Provide impartial, substantiated, accurate and complete verbal and written advice and reports.
   • Use public resources in accordance with Australian Army ethical standards and guidelines.
3. Deal with ethical situations
   • Comply with organisational policies/codes on the prevention and reporting of unethical conduct.
   • Report unethical conduct.
   • Resolve or refer situations which pose ethical problems.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

At least two ethical problems should be posed requiring a response or action that can be assessed.

developing character

displaying daily living skills

displaying dedication to duty, initiative, loyalty and honour, mateship and team work, the will to win, physical and moral courage, compassion and honesty towards others

coping with the demands of service life

performing tasks within a military context

accepting new challenges that are a feature of service life

recognising the fundamental importance of the military team

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
