Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan, prepare and collect information and data
   • Identify, interpret and confirm requirement to collect information from instructions.
   • Determine appropriate collection methods.
   • Develop collection plan and consult with supervisor.
   • Identify resources allocated for the task.
   • Identify, source and collect information and data in accordance with the plan.
2. Record and report information
   • Record information in the organisational format.
   • Communicate information to a higher authority.
   • Disseminate information as directed by supervisor.
   • Complete and maintain documentation and records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

communicating information and data

conducting research

using questioning techniques

conducting tactical and technical reconnaissance

taking measurements using a laser range finder, tape measure, ruler

using communications equipment

using global positioning systems

using optical enhancement tools such as binoculars

collecting information and data that is relevant and appropriate to the specific operation

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
