  1. Prepare for and conduct refuelling and fuel transfer operations
  2. Complete refuelling operations

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

applying relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and organisational policies and procedures

controlling fuel spills

earthing vehicle and plant

implementing environmentally sustainable work practices

interpreting fuel markings and panels

operating refuelling equipment

refuelling vehicles and plant

responding to emergencies using emergency response plans

testing fuel for product contamination.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

Australian dangerous goods codes including:

segregation and storage requirements

causes of explosions and related preventative measures

emergency/incident response plans

environmental protection measures to be applied during fuel transfer operations

firefighting techniques

fuel products and fuel transfer systems including valve and hose systems

functions and responsibilities of team members

hazard control methods associated with fuel products

hydraulics principles

physical properties of fuels

refuelling equipment must include one or more of the following:

50 mm/100 mm fuel equipment including:

fittings

pipelines and hoses

pumps

valves, vessels and tanks

measurement instruments including:

hydrometers

tapes

thermometers

relevant organisational policies and procedures.
