Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least two separate occasions – one urban and one rural environment – and include:

applying relevant legislation, regulatory standards and organisational policies and procedures

communicating appropriately about, consulting on and imparting knowledge of field hygiene and sanitation

gathering field hygiene data from relevant sources

identifying hygiene risks and implementing control measures

interpreting field hygiene data.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

causes of disease transmission

control measures for disease transmission

relevant documentation processes

food storage and distribution standards including:

hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP)

health surveillance system

methods of establishing field hygiene and waste facilities

pathophysiology of common communicable diseases

relevant legislation, regulatory standards and organisational policies and procedures

process of disease

risk management principles

water quality assurance measures.
