Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least two separate occasions – in an urban or field setting – and include:

applying Australian drinking water guidelines (ADWG)

applying relevant legislation, and organisational policies and procedures

calculating chlorine dosing levels accurately

identifying and responding to dosing faults

identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing control measures

interpreting data gathered in the field against quality standards

liaising and communicating with persons in positions of authority

measuring chemicals accurately

using, handling and storing chlorine in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS)/material safety data sheet (MSDS).


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

ADWG

chlorine dosing levels per volume of water

documentation processes relevant to own workplace

process of disease

relationship between chlorine, water pH and temperature as it relates to water disinfection

relevant dangerous/hazardous goods codes including:

handling and storage requirements for chlorine

relevant SDS/MSDS

risk management principles

water quality assurance measures.
