Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to conduct range inspection
   • Establish and confirm statutory requirements relevant to the range and purpose of the inspection with relevant personnel.
   • Obtain clearances for training area and range access.
   • Identify and acquire resources required for inspection.
   • Conduct inspection of research on the range.
   • Establish detailed plans for the inspection.
2. Conduct range inspection
   • Conduct range inspections.
   • Record observations and apply immediate action when appropriate.
   • Establish and maintain relationships with range staff.
3. Report on range inspection
   • Complete post inspection reports and briefs.
   • Report safety issues related to equipment and infrastructure maintenance and/or works requirements and follow-up.
   • Certify the safety of the range in accordance with statutory requirements.
   • Maintain inspection records and databases.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

planning and preparing the conduct of the range inspection

inspecting the range

preparing and presenting relevant inspection reports

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
