Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Participate in workplace briefings
   • Record relevant information from the attended briefing and clarify as required.
   • Incorporate information or tasks into own duty performance.
2. Prepare and enable equipment for operation
   • Gather ancillary equipment and make it available.
   • Perform daily system operability tests.
   • Recognise and report equipment faults or defects.
   • Load operational data required to enable equipment function.
   • Confirm ability to communicate internally and externally with the operations room by checking communication links.
3. Process and distribute information to promote situational awareness
   • Receive and act upon tasks relating to the processing and distribution of information.
   • Gather and interpret relevant information.
   • Display and distribute relevant information.
   • Maintain currency of information in accordance with shift supervisor instructions.
   • Compile, maintain and distribute correspondence and official records.
4. Secure operations room in preparation for periods of inactivity
   • Close internal and external communications links.
   • Sanitise equipment to prevent loss of data or breach of security requirements.
   • Shut down and secure departmental equipment.
   • Recover, refurbish and store ancillary equipment ready for later use.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

complying with security requirements

communicating with operations room personnel

receiving and interpreting instructions

maintaining a small equipment inventory

preparing operations room equipment for function

contributing to information management that promotes operations room situational awareness
