Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Conduct pre-operational safety checks.
   • Work/output requirements are established.
   • Pre-operational and safety checks are conducted in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
   • Availability of process supplies are confirmed.
   • Work is completed within OH&S, SOP, environmental and safe working requirements and practices.
2. Conduct start-up procedures.
   • Isolations are removed in accordance with SOP.
   • Pre-light conditions are established in accordance with SOP.
   • Boiler is started and brought on-line according to SOP.
   • System and plant is observed for correct operational response.
   • Boiler condition during start-up is monitored to detect abnormal conditions.
   • Deviations from required operating conditions are detected and corrective action undertaken to rectify.
   • Responses to corrective actions are documented as required by SOP.
   • Work is completed within OH&S, SOP, environmental and safe working requirements and practices.
3. Implement area housekeeping and cleaning.
   • Potential work area hazards are identified and reported.
   • Prevention/control measures are employed.
   • Chemical/hazardous wastes are disposed in accordance with SOP.
   • Solid waste disposal is in accordance with SOP.
   • Routine documentation is maintained and logged in accordance with SOP.
   • Work is completed within OH&S, SOP, environmental and safe working requirements and practices.
