Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

complete required tasks that:

meet agreed timelines

follow organisational protocols

meet expected standards for performance

follow workplace health and safety procedures

follow organisational policies and procedures.


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

life cycle of forests and wood products

concept of sustainable forest management

role of forests, forestry and wood products in carbon capture and storage

workplace safety and emergency procedures including:

personal protective equipment and clothing

safety equipment

first aid equipment

fire fighting equipment

hazard and risk control

fatigue management

elimination of hazardous materials and substances

manual handling including shifting, lifting and carrying and machine guarding

environmental protection requirements, including the safe disposal of waste material

organisational structure, reporting channels and procedures for recording workplace information

established communication channels and protocols

terms and conditions of employment

types of tools and equipment relevant to the work role, and procedures for their safe use and maintenance

applicable Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and established safe practices relevant to the specific job role in forestry operations.
