Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for fire prevention
- Review work order for policies and procedures for fire prevention, and check wih appropriate personnel
- Identify and report existing and potential fire risks and hazards to appropriate personnel
- Select appropriate fire extinguishing equipment for fire prevention
- Follow workplace procedures, work instructions and legislation for fire prevention
- Establish and maintain communication with others according to WHS requirements
- Implement fire prevention activities
- Eliminate or reduce fire risks and hazards and report in accordance with workplace procedures
- Recognise signs of fire and raise alarm at appropriate time, according to workplace procedures
- Select, check, use and store fire extinguishing equipment appropriately for the nature and type of fire
- Access training and/or professional development to maintain currency of competence in assessing fires, responding to fires, and in using and/or accessing, fire extinguishing equipment
- Notify appropriate personnel and complete incident and other required reports about the fire
- Record and report fire prevention procedures
