A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
applicable Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and established safe practices relevant to the full range of processes for monitoring and reviewing forestry operationsenvironmental protection and care requirements including: environmental sustainabilityprotection of water courses and water qualitysoil and salinity managementreduction and disposal of wasteenergy efficiencybiodiversity and habitat protectionconservation of natural resourcesfire managementorganisational and site standards, requirements, policies and procedures relevant to monitoring and reviewing forestry operationssustainable procurement practices, including selecting products and services on the basis of how they minimise and monitor their impact on the environmenttypes of equipment used in forestry operations, their procedures for use, operation and maintenanceforestry operations, techniques and technology, including:improvement of timber technology methodologieson-site forestry operations ancillary forest operationsenvironmental risks and hazard identificationenvironmental management systems, including:compliance, improvement and preventioncontinuous cycle of plan, implement, monitor, review and improve environmental practices and systemsestablished communication channels and protocolsprocedures for recording and reporting workplace information.
