Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for debarking
- Review work order and clarify with appropriate personnel.
- Assess type and quantity of logs to be processed with debarker.
- Select equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Plan debarking process in line with site procedures and environmental requirements
- Communication with others is established and maintained in line with OHS requirements
- Debark logs
- Carry out pre-operational checks on debarker.
- Feed material into the machine at the rate prescribed by organisational requirements.
- Regularly check and adjust conveyors to maintain desired quality and output.
- Segregate logs with defects and dispose of in line with site procedures and environmental requirements.
- Direct debarked logs to storage in a designated location in line with work order.
- Report processing faults to appropriate personnel.
- Conduct operator maintenance
- Lock-out debarker in line with site procedures.
- Conduct visual inspection to identify issues and faults.
- Check debarker for blunt of damaged cutters and remove and replace, in line with manufacturer’s specifications.
- Deal with blunt or damaged cutters in line with site procedures and environmental requirements.
- Record and report debarker operations, faults and maintenance activities.
