Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for assembly
- Review construction plans and work order and where required clarify with appropriate personnel.
- Identify and obtain type and quantity of material to be assembled and hardware.
- Select appropriate tools and equipment and check for operational effectiveness in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Identify and prepare set-up jigs required for construction.
- Set up components
- Select timber components from pre-cut material in line with cutting list.
- Reject material with defects and dispose of in line with environmental protection practices.
- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions environmental protection practices.
- Position and clamp components in jigs ready for joining with allowable faults, joins and grain in line with construction standards and grading rules.
- Staple components to maintain temporary alignment during assembly.
- Install assembly hardware
- Prepare products for despatch and report
- Check finished product for quality and label in line with work order.
- Remove components from jigs and safely stack in designated location.
- Strap, pack and label finished products ready for transportation.
- Avoid wastage of strapping and packaging materials and maximise use of recycled materials.
- Complete production and quality records and report in line with organisational procedures.
