Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

follow organisational policies and procedures relevant to conducting an instrument survey

communicating and following safe work practices

plan and coordinate instrument survey processes and implementing an instrument plan

monitor the collection of survey documentation and data

prepare a survey report to include data analysis and consider costs, difficulties or issues faced and recommendations for future work.


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

workplace requirements and site standards requirements, policies and procedures for conducting an instrument survey

environmental risks and hazards of survey work

environmental protection requirements of work sites

survey techniques and purposes including laying out road lines, marking establishment boundaries and forest area boundaries, assessment of forest, laying out planting rows, site design or drainage design

safety issues and hazards associated with undertaking boundary surveys

methods of navigating and geographically orienting in the field

established communication channels and protocols

problem identification and resolution strategies, and common fault finding techniques

types of tools and equipment used for instrument surveys, and procedures for their safe use and maintenance

procedures for recording and reporting workplace information.
