Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

follow organisational policies and procedures relevant to managing coupe planning

plan for the establishment, harvest and regeneration of forest coupes

select regeneration methods, create and schedule seeding processes or seedling regimes, and plan silviculture systems

communicate effectively with the work team

record and report workplace information, maintain documentation

read and interpret maps

estimate and calculate volume, gross and net areas

manage risks and contingencies

report on the outcomes of coupe planning


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

environmental protection requirements relevant to coupe planning including limiting impact on:

selected forest vegetation

fauna

habitat

soil and water features

organisational policies and procedures for managing coupe planning

coupe establishment and planning methods

harvesting methodologies

regeneration principles and methods

hydrology and hydrological principles

plant identification and classification skills

ecology and ecological interactions

soil types and structure

types of tools and equipment, and procedures for their use, operation and maintenance, for coupe planning

procedures for recording and reporting workplace information.
