Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

follow organisational policies and procedures relevant to coordinating and monitoring the wood chip stockpile

plan, coordinate, communicate and schedule stockpile operations

safely use, and direct others to safely use, chip slinging equipment

maintain the stockpile so that it is stable, compact, and provides access for chip retrieval and for continued slinging

safely direct others when chips are being delivered and transported by wheeled or tracked dozers or loaders

maintain schedules so that sufficient quantities of chips are available to meet demands

maintain accurate records about the stockpile and the movement of woodchips and follow organisational procedures.


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

purpose and safe use of equipment used in coordinating and monitoring the wood chip stockpile including:

wheeled dozers and loaders

chip slinging equipment

wood chip movement and loading procedures

environmental protection requirements for maintenance and safe disposal of waste material from stockpiles, and the cleaning of plant, tools and equipment

organisational and site policies and procedures relating to the wood chip stockpile

environmental risks and hazards associated with stockpiles, which must include risks arising from forms of contamination

wood chip movement and loading procedures

procedures for recording and reporting workplace information

maintenance procedures for tools and equipment.
