Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for cutting
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Obtain type and quantity of material to be cut from storage location.
- Select appropriate equipment and check for operational effectiveness in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Interpret cutting list in line with work order and organisational procedures.
- Plan material cutting patterns and saw set-up sequences in line with work order.
- Cut material to length and angle
- Mark up material and set stops set in preparation for cutting.
- Use equipment and machinery in line with organisational procedures, manufacturer's instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Follow cutting sequence and patterns to produce required quantity.
- Check cuts for length and angle within a set tolerance.
- Dispose of incorrect cuts, off-cuts and material with defects in line with environmental protection practices.
- Stack material safely in designated location in line with work order requirements.
- Report processing and equipment faults to appropriate personnel.
- Complete operator maintenance
- Follow organisational safety procedures to lock-out equipment.
- Check saw blades for bluntness or damage.
- Remove and replace saw blades in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Dispose of used blades in line with organisational procedures and environmental protection practices.
- Keep saw area clear of dust, off-cuts and debris in line with organisational safety procedures.
