Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

follow organisational policies and procedures relevant to preparing and advising on a broad range of timber wall frame details using computers

prepare wall frame layouts and production documentation for the following wall frame types:

standard

raking

fire rated


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

content and application of applicable regulations for certifying timber wall frame design layouts

limits of personal ability and authority for non-conforming design

common industry standard sizes, profiles and spacing dimensions

key features of these common types of timber framed walls:

standard

raking

fire rated

interaction between wall frame types

for the drawing software:

drawing types that can be produced

design limitations

system functions and capabilities

methods to input and amend design factors and other data

methods to store and retrieve drawings

organisational procedures specific to producing drawings and documents and advising on wall frame layouts:

communication reporting lines for internal and external stakeholders

certifying wall frames layouts

filing computerised drawings and documentation
