Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for treating
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate personal protective equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Obtain type and quantity of raw boards for surface treatment from storage.
- Select suitable feed rates and chemical products for material being surface treated and plan process in line with work order.
- Use equipment to surface treat raw boards
- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Apply surface treatment, monitor and adjust additive flow rates continually.
- Check spray operations continually; clear blockages and filters while maintaining spray coverage.
- Check boards regularly for surface quality and contamination; take corrective action where required.
- Remove defective boards from treatment process and review for disposal or re-treatment.
- Dry material and stack safely in designated location.
- Shut down and clean equipment
- Coordinate shutdown procedures with other line operators in line with organisational safety procedures.
- Turn off pumps and flush equipment in line with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Dispose of excess chemicals and flushing liquid in line with environmental protection practices.
- Store equipment and chemicals in line with organisational procedures.
- Record and report production outcomes and equipment faults to appropriate personnel.
