Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for cutting
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate personal protective and other equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Obtain type and quantity of continuous ply to be cut from storage location.
- Plan material cutting patterns and saw set-up sequences in line with work order.
- Cut continuous ply to size
- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Mark material and set stops in preparation for cutting.
- Set-up ply on in-feed and feed systems, check and regularly adjust rate.
- Follow cutting sequence and patterns to produce required quantity.
- Check cuts for length or angle within set tolerance.
- Dispose of incorrect cuts, off cuts and defective material in line with environmental protection practices.
- Stack material safely in designated location in line with work order.
- Complete operator maintenance
- Follow organisational safety procedures to lock out equipment.
- Check saw blades for bluntness or damage.
- Remove and replace saw blades in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Dispose of used blades in line with environmental protection practices.
- Keep work area clear of dust and debris in line with organisational safety procedures.
- Record and report production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements to appropriate personnel.
