Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to move material by transfer equipment
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate personal protective equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Inspect type and quantity of material for relocation and check for potential hazards, obstructions and spillage.
- Plan moving processes in line with work order.

- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Use communication signals to notify nearby personnel of impending operation.
- Select material to be moved and loading point, using schedules, orders and instructions.
- Estimate material dimensions and weight to ensure load and equipment is stable.
- Position and secure load using transfer car techniques in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Shut down equipment
- Clear material from transfer car prior to shutdown.
- Coordinate shutdown with other line operators in line with organisational safety procedures.
- Apply brakes and safety locks to prevent equipment from accidentally moving.
- Complete routine post operational cleaning and checks in line with organisational procedures.
- Clear material spillage from areas around rail system in line with environmental protection practices.
