Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for painting
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate personal protective and other equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Obtain type and quantity of panels for painting from storage.
- Select panel painting process, feed rates and paints and plan in line with work order.
- Paint panels
- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Load paint products in equipment and apply paint to panel, monitoring and adjusting flow rates and viscosity continually.
- Check paint operations regularly and clear blockages and filters to maintain paint coverage.
- Check panels regularly for surface quality and contamination, and grade according to work order requirements.
- Remove defective panels from painting process and review for disposal or re-painting.
- Dry and stack material safely in designated location.
- Shut down and clean equipment
- Coordinate shutdown procedures with other line operators in line with organisational safety procedures.
- Turn off pumps and flush equipment in line with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Dispose of excess paint and flushing liquid in line with environmental protection practices.
- Store equipment and paint in line with organisational procedures.
- Record and report production outcomes and equipment faults to appropriate personnel.
