Elements and Performance Criteria

Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:

safely and efficiently plan and coordinate panel production in line with safe work procedure and workplace requirements

monitor panel production outcomes and identify and rectify production and equipment problems and faults

record and report workplace information: production, output, quality, faults

modify production methods and schedules for panel production

communicate effectively and coordinate personnel to follow planning, communications and scheduling for panel production.


Knowledge Evidence

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

safe work procedures, site procedures, policies and site standards relevant to planning and coordinating panel production

environmental protection requirements, including the safe disposal of waste material

hazards and risks associated with the panel production process and risk control strategies

panel production procedures

panel types: laminated, veneered, plywood, chipboard, fibreboard, medium density fibreboard

panel characteristics: panel type, size, surface treatment, thickness, grade

production methods: board forming, pressing board using daylight process, board laminating, pressing laminated ply, applying laminates or veneers

established communication channels and protocols used to communicate with relevant operators

problem identification and resolution strategies and common fault finding techniques

procedures for recording and reporting production, quality and fault information.
