Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Elements define the essential outcomes
  2. Prepare master model
  3. Construct refractory model
  4. Wax and invest removable partial denture framework
  5. Burnout and cast removable partial denture framework
  6. Devest, trim, finish and evaluate alloy structures for removable partial denture

Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has:

• followed a set of sequenced written instructions and manufacturers’ specifications for preparing materials used in a cast for removable alloy partial denture

• used standard precautions and safe work practices to construct 1 removable alloy framework that includes a combination of bounded and free end saddles

• critically evaluated the 1 cast for removable alloy partial denture produced to meet technical laboratory and patient requirements.

Knowledge Evidence
