Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain main requirements to run a corrugator and meet work health and safety and enterprise requirements

identify FIVE different types/categories of rolled paperboard

list end products commonly made from each rolled paperboard type

identify principal components of a typical, single-face corrugated board adhesive and how to determine satisfactory performance of this adhesive

list main tools and/or equipment items required for efficient handling of paperboard rolls in the corrugation in-feed section, and for each item explain:

how to determine if correct settings have been applied

the required checks

explain what product factors are monitored automatically during production and how the monitoring function is achieved

briefly explain the preparation required prior to setting up a sewing machine

list the steps required to set roll pressures, adjust a steam delivery system and calibrate equipment

identify the location and contents of relevant machine manuals, safety and other documentation.
