Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for job
   • Job specifications are read and interpreted from job documentation or production control system
   • Set-up is carried out correctly in minimum time with minimum wastage
   • Availability of all job related materials is checked and recorded
2. Produce a test copy
   • Materials to be used for the job are identified and organised correctly
   • Equipment is set up and operated to produce a specified sample according to occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, manufacturer's specifications and enterprise procedures
   • Sample is inspected and/or tested to ensure the job meets job specifications and enterprise standards
   • Results are interpreted to determine adjustment requirements
   • Adjustments are carried out according to product and equipment specifications
3. Maintain finishing process
   • Finishing is maintained according to OHS requirements, manufacturer's specifications and enterprise procedures
   • Performance is monitored and verified using the process control system according to enterprise procedures
   • Finishing difficulties are anticipated and action is taken to prevent occurrence by timely intervention
   • Process adjustments to eliminate problems are reported according to enterprise procedures
   • Faulty performance of equipment is identified and reported according to enterprise procedures
   • Waste is sorted according to enterprise procedures
   • Production records or other documentation are accurately completed where required by enterprise procedures
4. Identify and rectify problems and faults
   • Problems with finishing equipment are identified and reported according to enterprise procedures
   • Adjustments or corrections are carried out according to specified procedures and are consistent with operator's skill level
   • Finishing equipment operation is checked to ensure correct operation

Context of and specific resources for assessment	Assessment must ensure that conditions are typical ambient conditions found in the workplace access to relevant facilities equipment and materials used for converting and finishing of digitally printed products such as trimmers small guillotines electronic staple machines and wiro binding units use of culturally appropriate processes and techniques appropriate to the language and literacy capacity of learners and the work being performed
