Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify purpose of artwork being prepared

identify number and specific colours of the job

name scale of artwork to finished job

explain difference between reflective and transparent originals

name three essential elements to consider when preparing art for printing/publication

outline different requirements for TWO printing or electronic output processes

outline types of halftone dot structures and maximum and minimum tonal ranges that could be used to reproduce this artwork

outline work health and safety (WHS) requirements when using cameras or computers

name colour sequence and overlap for transparent/opaque colours

explain affect (influence) of selection of different typefaces

describe method used for registration and trim marks

evaluate artwork for density, definition and resolution, and explain how can this be corrected

name characteristics of properly prepared line artwork

identify location of manuals, safety and other documentation that are relevant to this task and information that is included in these documents.
