Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

prepare, set up and use a manual or software system to produce TWO layouts according to listed performance criteria and job requirements

choose printing processes, sheet sizes, binding and finishing instructions, and numerical sequence and lay-down of the product meet job, and binding and finishing requirements

find and use information relevant to the task from a variety of information sources.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

list main considerations of preparing a layout for a printing press

outline different working methods for sheet-fed presses

identify image control marks important for press operation, and at binding finishing stage

explain calculations to ensure layout size correct

describe impact of paper considerations on type of imposition used

outline factors that influence imposition choices

locate manuals, safety and other documentation relevant to this task and identify included information.
