Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify health and safety issues that apply when producing a manual print

outline the procedure for setting up the frame relative to the position of the print image and base board

describe the checks to be made of the ink to determine its suitability for printing on a particular substrate

describe the checks to be made on the printed sheet when the proof print has been run off

describe the system used for drying or curing

explain how to determine whether a print is dried or cured prior to stacking

outline the maintenance requirements for equipment or machinery used to produce manual prints

explain how to clean up and dispose of waste materials used in the production of manual prints

identify required manuals, safety and other documentation and briefly outline the relevant information in each source.
