Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Receive printed product
   • Screen print job is collected or received and quality checks made according to job specifications
   • Defects or irregularities are identified, reported and rectified where possible
2. Carry out final processing
   • Final processing requirements of job are determined from job specifications
   • Equipment and materials for final processing are identified and prepared according to manufacturer or supplier and job specifications
   • Final processes are implemented according to job specifications and industry practice
   • Quality of product is monitored and maintained throughout final processing
   • Irregularities are identified, reported and rectified where possible
   • Job status and progress are checked against job specifications and any necessary action is taken
3. Handle final product
   • Final print is processed using appropriate handling, storage and dispatching techniques to ensure minimal wastage and prevent hazards to personnel
   • Waste materials are disposed of according to manufacturer or supplier specifications, regulatory requirements and enterprise procedures
   • Post-production cleaning and user maintenance are carried out according to manufacturer or supplier specifications
4. Store, pack and dispatch
   • Final quality checks are carried out and appropriate action is taken according to job specifications
   • Finished job is stored, packed and dispatched according to job specifications

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

finish TWO different screen printed jobs and apply final processing requirements according to manufacturer and job specifications, and enterprise procedures.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain techniques that are used to determine defects and irregularities and how they can be rectified

outline the features of a quality screen printed job

describe the health and safety concerns when finishing print jobs and handling the printed product

list the equipment, tools and materials used for final processing and the processes that are undertaken as indicated in the job specifications

describe monitoring and maintaining the quality of the finished product throughout final processing

describe the handling techniques that are used to prevent damage to the processed product

outline the correct methods for disposing of waste material

explain the post-production cleaning methods that are used

name the type and frequency of maintenance that should be performed on equipment

outline the final quality checking methods

explain the method used for maintaining and recording job information

identify required manuals, safety and other documentation and briefly outline the relevant information in each source.
