Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to install aerial cable structure
- Obtain construction plan from appropriate personnel to scope work and arrange for site access
- Notify appropriate personnel of identified safety hazards at cabling worksite
- Determine cable route from construction plan, identifying and avoiding other services
- Obtain plant, tools, safety equipment and material to perform tasks safely and efficiently
- Install aerial support structures
- Use tools according to enterprise guidelines and work health and safety (WHS) regulations
- Erect safety barriers according to enterprise guidelines to secure site
- Excavate hole to specifications and according to enterprise guidelines for erection of mounting pole
- Install pole using mechanical lifting devices according to enterprise guidelines
- Install fixing structures on pole securely according to manufacturer’s specifications
- Install aerial fixing devices where support is other than pole according to enterprise guidelines
- Complete project
- Complete reports according to enterprise policy and record alterations to plans using appropriate symbols
- Recover obsolete materials and equipment and return to appropriate point for disposal
- Restore site according to requirements of enterprise or approving authority and to client satisfaction
- Notify appropriate personnel of job completion and obtain sign off
